Peter Pil Jae Ko

Mr. Ko, Senior Managing Director for H&Q Asia Pacific, and Joint Representative Director of H&Q Asia Pacific Korea, is responsible for leading H&Q Asia Pacific’s private equity operations in Korea and on a global basis. Mr. Ko is one of the senior executives in the firm, serving in various H&Q Asia Pacific’s committees, including the Investment Committee of all regional funds and Korea country specific funds. Mr. Ko’s leadership and contributions to H&Q Asia Pacific spans over a decade.

Prior to joining H&Q Asia Pacific, Mr. Ko spent eight years as Principal at William E. Simons & Sons (Asia) Limited, an Asian private equity firm based in Hong Kong, Vice President of Merchant Bank at Asia Oceanic Group, and Vice President at Merrill Lynch Capital Markets’ M&A division.

Since establishing the Korea office in July 1998, Mr. Ko has led over KRW630 BN (US$550 MN) investments across 17 portfolio companies in Korea – one of the notable investments being Good Morning Securities, which he exited successfully in 2002.

Mr. Ko graduated from Columbia University and obtained his MBA from Harvard Business School.
